About CO A-Class

A-Class Catamarans were introduced to Colorado by Len Dolhert and Alison Hazel in fall 2007. Since then the fleet has grown to 6 A-cats, 4 of which are currently stored and raced at Union Reservoir, East of Longmont, CO.

We race during the Spring, Summer, and Fall every Sunday at 2 - 5pm with the Union Sailing Club, along with Wednesday evenings at 6PM during the summer.

A fleet boat is available for those who would like to try A-class catamaran sailing. Please contact Sebastian Mettes.

The 2017 Season is an exciting season for us, with anticipated growth of both the A-Fleet and the Hobie fleets at Union Reservoir!

The A-Class Catamaran is the fastest single handed catamaran in production. Due to the developmental nature of the class, high tech materials such as carbon fiber are incorporated in the designs which are updated yearly keeping the class on the edge of technology and performance. With the development of foils, A-Class catamarans are able to maintain and exceed speeds of 24 knots.

In the United States, there are over 150 active A-class members who race at local clubs across the country, and travel to national level competitions which attract 50+ competitors.
